Confession: Please Forgive Me

Please forgive me, as it’s been over a month since my last confession and blog post. Where does the time go?

This fall we’ve had the pleasure of hosting our foreign exchange daughter, Kate. It seems like yesterday she arrived and we talked about doing so many things. She leaves next week for her next family, and I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone.

My baby is turning four. She’s a walking encyclopedia on the topic of dinosaurs. And then there’s the matter of the holidays fast approaching. Thanksgiving is upon us in a matter of 48 hours!  Christmas and New Year’s will be here, as well as our big family trip to Walt Disney World. Good grief Charlie Brown.

Is your life like mine? I’m not complaining. I am very blessed. Sometimes it simply feels like I’m sprinting along side a car, trying to catch up like the scene in “Home for the Holidays” where Holly Hunter is being strung along while her brother Robert Downey Jr. keeps inching the car forward, not allowing her to catch up. This is one of my favorite movies of all time by the way AND it’s a Thanksgiving flick.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Blogging I Will Go

Vivid Image Inc MinnesotaIt’s been a long time in the making, but my business; the one that allows me to be Confessions of a Mom, work from home, and have fun with social networking, finally published it’s new blog and website. I am excited because now I get to blog about all three things that I am passionate about: Being a mom, social networking, and small business.

Yes, I blog for all three.

First, as you know, I blog here on Confessions of a Mom! It is my outlet, my fun, and especially, my way of connecting with other moms. If you would love to write a guest article, I’d love to feature you!

Second, I blog for my husband’s site, creatively named SteveGasser.com I love to help people understand social networking and online marketing in easy to understand chunks. I do a lot of teaching and the questions that I get each time end up as my inspiration for what and how I write for SteveGasser.com If you’d love to be a guest writer about social marketing, let me know.

Last, I have the honor of blogging at Vivid Image, Inc. where we help hundreds of small businesses and non-profits grow and flurish using technology, the web, and all that today’s marketing has to offer. I love helping small businesses understand what they can do to connect with their customers and use today’s tools to make a difference in their daily lives. If you have a wonderful way of communicating with small businesses and have an interest in writing a guest article, contact me and we’ll chat.

Where Do You Work?

017A couple things occurred to me today, while sitting  at my computer. I am working on a presentation for later this week, and my thoughts strayed.

First, I have the tremendous opportunity to work from home while sitting in my sunroom. I have my computer positioned in the corner so that I can see North and East of the house. I love watching the squirrels and neighborhood dogs out the windows. I love opening the window and spelling the air. I enjoy being able to see the kids playing on the swings only a few feet away. I guess I have never stopped to consider how blessed I am to have a “corner office with a view”.

Second, I decided I could take a picture and share my office space with you. I also find myself wondering where so many of my mom blogger friends sit and work. I thought it might be fun to share. If not, then I’ve just posted a boring picture of my sunroom.

If you decide to share a picture and write a post about where you work, please come back here and leave a comment and link. I’d love to see. I’m nosy, and not afraid to admit it.

Mother’s Lingo: A Language for Mom Bloggers

crystal head vodka in my fridgeI think it is only fitting that we moms should have our own language that is more tailored to our lives. Afterall, I don’t need to borrow teen abbreviations for “grinning, ducking, running” which, by the way (BTW) is (GDR).

Although, now that I think of it, I could have used “GDR”a t least once this week, and if I could use it more, I’d have more fun.

So let’s have some fun with this. Here’s what I’m thinking:

WLTFDO (Who left the frig door open?)

NIMQCTDDET (No, I’m quite certain the dog doesn’t enjoy that)

WYBIAB (Were you born in a barn?)

DMMC23 (Don’t make me count to three)

BZISS (Becauz I said so)

YRYSOIR (Why are your shoes outside in the rain?)

WITKITL (Who is the kid in the living room?)

DYPKURH (Do your parents know you are here?)

WGTBAS (Who gave the baby a sucker?)

YUH2TETOYP (Yes, you have to try everything on your plate)

WSBASOMITL (We should build a shrine of mom in the living room)
